Chattooga Chamber Awarded Explore Georgia Tourism Recovery Marketing Grant

The Chattooga Chamber today announced it has been awarded a Tourism Recovery Marketing Grant from Explore Georgia, the state tourism office within the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD). The Explore Georgia Tourism Recovery Marketing Grant program supports marketing efforts to bolster the recovery of Georgia’s tourism industry from the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chattooga Chamber was among 34 tourism entities across 27 counties who received a combined total of nearly $1.5 million in recovery marketing funding as part of this one-time grant program.

ONICCIMA advocates expansion of Anambra roads to enhance cargo transportation

THE Onitsha Chamber of Commerce Mines and Agriculture (ONICCIMA) has suggested the expansion of Enugu-Onitsha and Onitsha-Otuocha roads in Anambra State to enhance the functionality of the newly-completed cargo/passengers airport.

The chamber said in a press statement sent to The ICIR on Monday that the state government should engage aviation and related authorities to cordon off airplane pathways that would not harbour residential buildings or developments.

Bluffton’s Bryson Nimmer ready for another PGA Tour event in his backyard

Bryson Nimmer can remember hitting golf balls in the fields at his family’s turf farm when he was growing up. 

This week, Nimmer will make his third start in a PGA Tour event this year at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree — while local golf fans use one of the Nimmers’ fields for parking.

Travel scams return with the rise in travel

(CNN) — With more widespread vaccinations and relaxed travel restrictions, many people are making long-awaited vacation plans. But scammers are making plans of their own to separate eager travelers from their money via too-good-to-be-true vacation packages, fake airfare deals and other shady schemes.

Consumer advocacy organizations such as Better Business Bureau are issuing warnings about an increase in incidents involving scammers who often pose as airline ticket brokers and travel agents via telemarketing calls.
