Twenty-seven new PPVs approved for construction, transportation and manufacturing sector, says KJ


KUALA LUMPUR: As the race to inoculate Malaysians continues, Khairy Jamaluddin announced that 27 new vaccination centres have so far been approved for the construction, transportation and manufacturing sectors.

The 27 PPVs will be in charge of vaccinating 373,327 workers across the three sectors and they will begin operating on Thursday (July 1), said the Science Technology and Innovation Minister.

Cedar Rapids weighs changes to hotel-motel tax revenue allocations to nonprofits

CEDAR RAPIDS — Changes to the city’s application for not-for-profit organizations seeking a share of Cedar Rapids’ hotel-motel tax revenues are likely to come before the 2023 budget year.

The Cedar Rapids City Council Finance and Administrative Services Committee has been in talks over the last several months with city staff about changing the application for not-for-profits seeking to tap into some of the tax revenue the city gains in from overnight guests.

Cam Davis wins first PGA Tour event in five-hole playoff at Rocket Mortgage Classic


DETROIT  — Cam Davis won the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday for his first PGA Tour title when Troy Merritt missed a 6-foot par putt on the fifth hole of a playoff.

Davis missed putts to win on each of the playoff holes. The 26-year-old Australian left 6- and 18-foot putts high, a 25-foot putt low and a 19-footer high. He misread a break on a 12-foot putt on the fifth playoff hole, then won when Merritt made bogey.

Davis closed with a 5-under 67 to match Merritt (68) and Joaquin Niemann (68) at 18-under 270 at Detroit Golf Club.

Who won California dream vacation vaccine lottery prize? List of counties


SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Six vaccinated Californians won “dream vacations” in a drawing held Thursday afternoon, the last in a series of lottery prizes meant to incentivize getting the shot.

The randomly selected winners came from Alameda, Contra Costa, Orange, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz counties.

Anyone who has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine was automatically eligible, and winners will be kept anonymous unless they choose otherwise. The state health department will contact winners via the information they provided when they registered for their shot.
