President of the Transport Operator Development Sustainable Service (TODSS), Egerton Newman, has set the ambitious target of getting at least 65 per cent of the islands estimated 200,000 transport operators – owners, drivers, conductors, backup men and washers – fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by the end of December.

The vaccination campaign, which is projected to be officially launched by next week Thursday at the Half-Way Transport Centre, will be carried out from at least 11 major sites across the island.

Return of tourists to San Antonio this summer gave businesses a much-needed boost

SAN ANTONIO – Beverly Johnson was visiting from the Bay Area in California for a conference and said she felt really good about how the San Antonio hotel she’s staying in is handling the COVID-19 protocols.

“The city itself feels real positive in terms of being a good advocate for promoting individual safety,” Johnson said.

Others coming from out of the state or country said it felt good to get out.

“Coming from New Mexico is extremely strict right now. So, we’re ready to get out of that,” said Aleah Stablein visiting from Albuquerque, NM.

A popular Highland hostelry has taken to poetry to get its message out.

The busy Applecross Inn thanked customers, and the Ross-shire Journal, for getting the message out when it comes to social distancing and table bookings, but wanted to paint a picture of the current situation in the hospitality industry.

After posting its message more than 2500 people interacted with the message, with 611 people sharing the post.
