New travel information released during online meeting

New travel protocols and other local tourism industry information were discussed and shared during a virtual meeting held yesterday morning.

The Destination Antigua and Barbuda webinar on Zoom was attended by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association, and other key stakeholders in the industry. The introduction of new policies regarding vaccination of visitors, certified accommodations and the tourism tax levy were items listed on the meeting’s agenda.

Cobb Chamber to host transportation summit


If you have an interest in transportation issues related to Cobb County, and can spring for the pricey entrance fee, the Cobb Chamber will host the 2021 Transportation & Mobility Summit on Tuesday, October 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

It’s a luncheon summit, and the cost is $100 for non-Chamber-members and $60 for members.

The focus of the summit will be local, state, and federal transportation initiatives that will have an impact on Cobb and the surrounding metro region.

David Toms beats Dicky Pride in playoff to win inaugural event on PGA Tour Champions


ST. LOUIS – David Toms beat Dicky Pride with a par on the first hole of a playoff Sunday in the PGA Tour Champions’ inaugural Ascension Charity Classic.

Toms hit his approach in the playoff on the par-4 18th to the middle of the green and two-putted from 18 feet. Pride’s approach went to the right into a greenside bunker and he couldn’t get a 16-footer for par to fall.

The 54-year-old Toms scrambled for par on the 18th in regulation after driving left into a fairway bunker. He shot a 5-under 66 to finish at 10-under 203 on Norwood
