The first PGA Tour event after 9-11 was a surreal return to a changed world | Golf News and Tour Information

In the annals of professional golf, the short-lived Pennsylvania Classic was barely a blip on the radar, existing for only seven years with a series of title sponsors, held at several venues and largely won by a roster of passersby among the PGA Tour ranks. Except for one year—and we are not talking about the 2006 edition featuring Michelle Wie—the tournament was forgettable.

But that one year is crucially important. In fact, it could be argued that the edition in question holds a special place in the history of golf and the tour.

For a tour guide, 9/11 prompts new NYC narrative

We were in love with our new apartment in New York City, especially the 300-square foot terrace with its panoramic views of Lower Manhattan. Because we lived on the 24th floor, it felt like we were floating in the sky.

Durham-based charity Handcrafted is behind a proposal to give the Shakespeare Inn, in Gateshead, a new lease of life.

The charity helps people to develop skills, build confidence and “engage in positive activity” through practical training and creative activities, which it runs from 9am to 4pm on weekdays.

The organisation wants to put four one-bedroom flats on the first floor of the hostelry.

A leaflet distributed by the charity to near-by properties explained the proposals.

In it the organisation described how the premises
