Bemidji’s second 25 years saw growth in population, business and tourism

The second quarter century of Bemidji’s history was perhaps the most dynamic of any 25 years in the city’s development. Lumber had originally drawn people to the area, and sawmills continued to thrive, but the rough-and-tumble town of the late 1800s had matured to the point of being the north central hub for railroads, bringing freight and passengers and taking huge loads of lumber away.

Since its designation as Beltrami County’s seat in 1897, the city had seen the steady growth of schools and businesses. In 1920, Bemidji had a population of 7,086. By the mid-1940s, it was approaching 10,000.

This year’s stories deal with how various industries are faring in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. New magazine-style visitor guide to gain more exposure for Richland County | Business News

MANSFIELD ─ The 2021 Richland County visitor guide looks much different from its predecessors.

It is no longer a small brochure that fits your pocket, but a magazine-style guide featuring various topics, including The Shawshank Trail, tourist attractions suitable for children and art activities in the county.  

“We wanted a larger magazine-style format to make it more of a leave-behind, coffee-table kind of piece, and one that could be utilized by more than just visitors and tourists,” said Lee Tasseff, president of Destination Mansfield – Richland County.

GBTA poll finds positive momentum for business travel

The Global Business Travel Association has issued the findings from its 18th COVID-19 poll assessing the impact of the pandemic and the road to recovery for the business travel industry. 
 
Nearly a quarter of poll respondents report that their company has resumed nonessential business travel, or that the company has in place a plan to resume travel. This latest poll shows multiple positive signs for business travel recovery, including an increase in willingness to travel, a decrease in trips cancelled and a more optimistic view towards returning to the road as travel bookings continue to increase.
