An American professional has reportedly been arrested after a fight broke out during Monday qualifying for this week’s Korn Ferry Tour event.

The bizarre incident took place at Sand Creek Station Golf Club in Kansas, where players were attempting to qualify for the Wichita Open.

According to reports, Luke Smith was arrested after being interviewed by police in the clubhouse following a violent altercation with playing partner Austin Dailey.

Cameron Young wins wire-to-wire match at Korn Ferry Tour event


KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On Sunday, Cameron Young did exactly what he had done after Thursday, Friday and Saturday: led the AdventHealth Championship at Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City.

Young closed out a wire-to-wire win Sunday with a 4-under 68. Overall Young shot 19-under and won by two strokes.

“Obviously the last hour or so I probably had a good feeling I was going to win, but it’s hard to get through those last few holes and, you know, hit the shots that I needed to hit,” Young said. “I was a little bit squirrelly down the stretch.”

Korn Ferry Tour plans for $1 million purses in each event by start of 2023 season


Bigger paydays are coming to the Korn Ferry Tour.

The developmental circuit announced Tuesday that it will significantly increase purses over the next two seasons, with each tournament featuring a total prize money of at least $1 million beginning with the 2023 season.

The purse increases were approved by the Policy Board in March 2020, to be implemented for the following season, but were delayed because of the costs associated with dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Korn Ferry Tour event runs smoothly at Paiute Golf Resort


Paiute Golf Resort was ready for its close-up last week, shining in its debut as the venue for the Korn Ferry Tour’s MGM Resorts Championship.

Players, organizers and Paiute staff had nothing but praise for the Sun Mountain course and the tournament, other than some grumbling about the wind that whipped through the unprotected course north of Las Vegas for four straight days.
