New Delhi, May 24 (PTI) The Raipur airport has handled the transportation of 530 oxygen cylinders by the Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft between April 9 and May 17, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said on Monday.

India has been badly hit by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic and hospitals in several states have been facing shortage of oxygen, beds, drugs, vaccines and equipment.

Ensure security for oxygen transport to national capital, HC tells Centre

The Delhi High Court Thursday directed the Centre to ensure that security is provided for vehicles transporting oxygen to the national capital after it was told by the Delhi government that obstructions were created in Haryana’s Panipat and Faridabad by local authorities.

Centre plans to import high-capacity oxygen tankers from Singapore, UAE

Amid a surge in COVID-19 infections and several states flagging scarcity of medical oxygen, the government is in talks for the import of high-capacity oxygen-carrying tankers from Singapore and the UAE and directed states to revive closed oxygen plants for augmenting its production, reported PTI.
